The Priory Centre, Hamble
The Priory Centre was opened in 1990 and is a modern functional building used for a variety of events.
It is managed by a board of trustees who look after the day to day affairs of the building.
It is an educational foundation, having obtained most of its funds from the sale of the old school building in Hamble.
It is used during school hours by small groups who are of limited means and who wish to further their educational needs. The building is let in the evenings to a variety of groups ranging from a local pipe band to a ladies discussion group. The members of St. Andrew's Church also use the building extensively for their activities ranging from fellowship meetings to upmarket social events. Wedding receptions, and other gatherings, have also been held in the building.
There is an extensive kitchen, with two microwave ovens, two cookers, a fridge, a freezer as well as an industrial dishwasher. There are facilities for the disabled, including toilets, and the whole building is at the same level. There are doors opening into a grassed courtyard and this extra space helps provide more room for summer functions.
Bookings can be made through the Parish Priest: Fr. John Travers Telephone: 02380 452148 e-mail: jwtravers@gmail.com The rates for outside hire are £20.00 per hour.
